5-Star QB from Tennessee Chooses Vols’ SEC Rivals

Georgia Football Secures Five-Star QB Jared Curtis from Tennessee

The Georgia Bulldogs have scored a significant recruitment win by securing five-star quarterback Jared Curtis, hailing from Nashville Christian School. Rated as the No. 8 overall player nationally and the top prospect in Tennessee, Curtis is widely recognized as the No. 4 quarterback of his recruiting cycle.

After initially committing to Georgia in March 2024, Curtis briefly reopened his recruitment in October before reaffirming his commitment on May 5, 2025. His decision ultimately came down to Georgia or Oregon, a Big Ten competitor, but he opted to remain within the SEC, signaling a strong preference for the Bulldogs.

Interestingly, although he is from Tennessee, the Volunteers did not heavily pursue Curtis due to their commitment to five-star quarterback Faizon Brandon. Brandon, the top-rated QB in the 2026 class, has been committed to Tennessee since August 2024, which limited the Volunteers’ interest in Curtis.

As of now, Brandon and Curtis rank as the top two quarterbacks headed to the SEC, but their paths might not cross early. Changes in the conference’s scheduling format—resulting from the additions of Texas and Oklahoma—mean that Tennessee and Georgia may not meet during the first two years of their respective quarterbacks’ college careers.

While the SEC currently operates with an eight-game schedule, discussions are ongoing about potentially adding a ninth game, which may influence the future pairings. Despite geographical and scheduling challenges, the prospect of Curtis and Brandon facing each other in later years—be it in regular-season matchups or championship games—remains an exciting possibility for college football enthusiasts. With Georgia solidifying its status as an SEC powerhouse, significant clashes on the field are anticipated in the years to come.
