Austin Peay State University Football Community Mourns Loss of Player William Hardrick

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Austin Peay State University (APSU) is mourning the unexpected passing of senior football player William Hardrick, who died Tuesday night. Hardrick, originally from Adamsville, Alabama, had previously played at Mississippi State and Miami before transferring to APSU.

Reflecting on Hardrick’s tenure, APSU Vice President and Director of Athletics, Gerald Harrison, expressed deep sorrow over the loss, stating, “We are truly saddened by the passing of William Hardrick, a new member of our football program and the Austin Peay family. All of our thoughts and prayers are with the Hardrick Family today.” He emphasized the university’s commitment to supporting Hardrick’s friends, family, and teammates during this difficult time.

APSU football coach Jeff Faris also shared heartfelt sentiments, highlighting Hardrick’s impact on the team. “William Hardrick was an exceptional young man, and our team is heartbroken by his loss. He made everyone around him better and has made a real impact both on and off the field,” Faris noted. The coach joined the community in lifting the Hardrick family in prayer while navigating this tragic loss.

Currently, the university has not released any further details about the circumstances surrounding Hardrick’s death, choosing to focus instead on the grief and support efforts for those affected.
