Bhubaneswar Gram Panchayat Wins Prestigious National e-Governance Award
Bhubaneswar, Odisha – Suakati gram panchayat, located in the Banspal block of Keonjhar district, has been honored with the Jury Award at the 22nd National Awards for e-Governance (NAeG) 2025. This accolade positions Suakati as one of only three local bodies in India to be recognized in the newly established category aimed at gram panchayats, celebrating exemplary grassroots initiatives that utilize technology to improve service delivery.
Alongside Suakati, the Palsana gram panchayat from Gujarat and the Lalitpur Municipal Council in Uttar Pradesh were also awarded. The National Awards for e-Governance, organized annually by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, seek to acknowledge and promote excellence in digital governance among government entities across India.
This year, a total of 10 Gold and 6 Silver awards were distributed across six innovative categories, such as the use of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity practices, and digital transformation through data analytics. Notable Gold awardees included projects from the Indian Bureau of Mines, the India Meteorological Department, and the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
Each Gold award includes a trophy, certificate, and an incentive of Rs 10 lakh, while Silver award recipients receive Rs 5 lakh, aimed at supporting further digital projects in public service delivery.
Keonjhar Collector Vishal Singh expressed pride in this achievement, emphasizing how it showcases the transformative potential of technology at the grassroots level. "This recognition not only validates our efforts but is also expected to inspire other panchayats to embrace digital governance," he stated.
The awards ceremony will take place at the upcoming 28th National Conference on e-Governance, highlighting India’s strides in advancing e-governance and discussing future initiatives.
