Colorado Avalanche center Nathan MacKinnon had a breakthrough night by winning the Hart Trophy and Ted Lindsay Award, leading the league with 140 points and setting a franchise record. He edged out previous winners Nikita Kucherov and Connor McDavid for the Hart. Other award winners on Thursday included Winnipeg Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck for the Vezina Trophy and Vancouver Canucks defenseman Quinn Hughes for the Norris Trophy.
Chicago Blackhawks center Connor Bedard won the Calder Trophy as the top rookie despite missing 14 games with a broken jaw. Previously announced winners included Canucks coach Rick Tocchet and Panthers center Aleksander Barkov for the Selke Trophy.
The first All-Star team included MacKinnon, Artemi Panarin, and Nikita Kucherov up front, Quinn Hughes and Roman Josi on defense, and Connor Hellebuyck in goal. The second All-Star team featured Connor McDavid, Filip Forsberg, and David Pastrnak as forwards, Cale Makar and Adam Fox on defense, and Thatcher Demko in goal.
The all-rookie team included Bedard, Logan Cooley, and Marco Rossi up front, Brock Faber and Luke Hughes on defense, and Pyotr Kochetkov in goal. Other awards went to Jim Nill of the Dallas Stars for GM of the Year and Mark DeMontis for the Willie O’Ree Community Hero Award.
