The SEC has released the list of conference games for the 2025 season, revealing that Tennessee football will play the same eight opponents as in 2024, but with home and away games flipped. The Vols will face Oklahoma, Arkansas, Georgia, and Vanderbilt at Neyland Stadium, while playing road games at Florida, Alabama, Kentucky, and Mississippi State. Dates for these games have not yet been announced.
By sticking with an eight-game SEC schedule, Tennessee will maintain its rivalries with Florida, Alabama, Kentucky, and Vanderbilt at least through 2025. However, if the SEC transitions to a nine-game conference schedule in 2026, some of these matchups may no longer be annual. In this scenario, the Vols would likely have Vanderbilt, Alabama, and either South Carolina or Kentucky as permanent opponents, with the Florida rivalry played in alternating years.
In addition to SEC games, Tennessee already has its nonconference games scheduled for 2025. They will face Syracuse in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Classic, as well as host ETSU, UAB, and New Mexico State. The Vols have a 9-0 record against these opponents historically, with three wins against Syracuse, one against ETSU, and five against UAB.
Looking ahead to 2026, Tennessee has lined up nonconference games against Furman, Nebraska, and Western Michigan, showing their preparedness for a potential switch to a nine-game SEC schedule. For more news and insights on SEC football, fans can subscribe to the SEC Unfiltered newsletter.
