Grammy-winning singer Usher is set to return to his hometown of Chattanooga, Tennessee, later this month for a special event called “Coming Home: A Celebration of Usher.” The city and Hamilton County will be honoring the singer by presenting him with the keys to the city and various proclamations from government officials.
The event, scheduled for April 20 at the McKenzie Arena, will be free for ticketholders and is in partnership with the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and Chattanooga Business Elite. Tickets can be reserved at cha.city/usher on Friday starting at 10 a.m.
Chattanooga Mayor Tim Kelly expressed the city’s pride in Usher’s accomplishments, noting that they punch above their weight when it comes to producing talent like Usher. Hamilton County Mayor Weston Wamp highlighted Usher’s success as an example for young boys and girls in the area to realize their own potential.
Usher’s appearance in Chattanooga comes after his recent Super Bowl halftime performance and ahead of his upcoming Past Present Future Tour, which kicks off in August. The tour will showcase his album “Coming Home” and will include stops in North America and Europe.
As Usher celebrates the 20th anniversary of his iconic album “Confessions,” fans can likely expect to hear some throwback songs during his tour. After wrapping up a successful Las Vegas residency at the end of last year, Usher is ready to hit the road and share his talent with audiences around the world.
