Some believe that this particular version of the Bible may be seen as the only acceptable translation by some state officials. Governor Bill Haslam, who previously vetoed a bill declaring the Bible the state’s official book, has emphasized the importance of faith in the public square. As a person of faith, Haslam and others like him hold a different perspective on Christianity, one that is inclusive and emphasizes social justice.
