Elliston Place Soda Shop, a local favorite in Nashville since 1939, has been delighting customers with its delicious pies for over three decades, all thanks to Linda Melton, affectionately known as Ms. Linda or “The Pie Lady.” Inspired by her grandmother, Ms. Linda brings her classic family recipes, passed down through generations, to the tables of the Soda Shop.
Ms. Linda, a Tennessee native, recalls fond memories of watching her grandmother bake pies using simple ingredients and old-fashioned methods. Despite not having a sweet tooth herself, she fell in love with the art of baking and has been perfecting her craft ever since.
Having worked at Elliston Place Soda Shop for 31 years, Ms. Linda has become a legend in the Nashville community, known for her coconut meringue, chocolate meringue, and chess pies. She continues to use the same recipes her grandmother taught her, keeping the family legacy alive.
Despite her busy schedule at the Soda Shop, Ms. Linda finds joy in spending time with her great-grandchildren, who bring her immense happiness. She credits her father for teaching her important life lessons, including to stand up for herself.
As a beloved figure in the Nashville food scene, Ms. Linda’s dedication to baking and creating delicious pies has made her an integral part of the community. Her work at Elliston Place Soda Shop continues to be a staple for locals and visitors alike.
