The University of Tennessee Lady Vols recently secured a spot in their 13th Super Regional in program history after defeating Virginia 6-0. The Lady Vols got off to a strong start in the first inning, scoring two runs thanks to Rylie West’s 2-RBI single. Pitcher Karlyn Pickens delivered a 1-2-3 inning in the first and continued her strong performance throughout the game, only allowing two hits and pitching a complete game shutout.
Throughout the game, Tennessee’s offense was led by West, who finished with 5 RBI including a solo home run in the fifth inning. The Lady Vols will now face Alabama in the Super Regional after the Crimson Tide advanced out of the Tuscaloosa regional. Tennessee had earlier won the regular season series against Alabama, taking two out of the three games.
