Milloy makes history and Pickens is perfect for Tennessee

The Lady Vols had a mixed day at the 2024 Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic, splitting their games. In the first game, they beat Loyola Marymount 4-0, with Kiki Milloy breaking the program’s all-time home runs record and Karlyn Pickens pitching a perfect game. Milloy hit her 58th career home run in the fifth inning, setting a new school record, while Pickens retired all 21 batters she faced.

However, in the second game against Cal State Fullerton, the Lady Vols fell 11-2 in six innings. Taylor Pannell hit a home run to give Tennessee an early lead, but Fullerton took control with a series of runs in the later innings. The loss went to pitcher Payton Gottshall, who is now 2-2 on the year.

Despite the loss, the Lady Vols remain determined as they look ahead to their upcoming games. Next, they will face Oregon State and UCF on Saturday in the ongoing tournament. Fans can expect to see more impressive performances from the team as they continue to show their strength and skill on the softball field.
