The Lebanon City Council has voted to adopt the 2024-2025 fiscal year budget on the first reading, which includes estimated fund balances for various departments. Mayor Rick Bell emphasized the importance of responsibly managing the budget and meeting the needs of city departments without raising property taxes. The proposed general budget includes revenue from sales tax, property tax, and other sources, with a total projected revenue of $56,933,019.52. City utilities’ revenues are separate and projected to be over $52 million. The budget also includes a 4.5% pay increase for city employees and funds for various departments to recruit additional employees, including police and fire departments. A second reading of the budget is scheduled for June 18, with unanimous approval during the first reading. Mayor Bell expressed appreciation for city employees’ dedication to community service and efficient delivery of city services. The new budget aims to support city departments, maintain fiscal responsibility, and address the needs of the growing community without increasing the tax burden on homeowners and businesses.
